What is the cheapest way to carry a large tent on the roof of a car?
We have a Ford Focus 5DR hatchback Vreg 1999 and bought a large tent used from a friend that we are on a shoestring for the next 3 years (I'm being a student midwife!). But the tent fills the entire boot leaves no room for anything second! Of course money is tight, and we know nothing about cars, so any suggestions for a safe, effective but very inexpensive way to wear it on the roof (or am I asking the impossible?) Thanks bungee straps? Can I just did it all on the roof then? I do not need a rack or something similar?
You need a roof bar type roof rack permanent roof in front and one on the back of the roof, and tie the tent down on these bars with thin lines and no bungy type of rope, they will not keep the tent in a safe manner.
